Office Recognitions

JLOC member Representative Maxine Bell and OPE director Rakesh Mohan were selected by the Council of State Governments to attend the Henry Toll Fellowship Program in Lexington, Kentucky, in September 2008. The Toll Fellowship Program is one of the nation's foremost leadership development programs, which brings together representatives from all three branches of government. The program provides skills and strategies to assist state leaders in working together across party lines, state borders, and government branches to creatively address public policy issues.

2008 Impact Award, National Legislative Program Evaluation Society, in recognition for the report Management in the Department of Health and Welfare, which had documented public policy impact

Rakesh Mohan was appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Evaluation Association (AEA) for a three-year term (2008-11). AEA is an international program evaluation association of more than 5,000 members. In the past, Rakesh served as chair of AEA's Publications Committee and the topical interest group on State and Local Government Evaluation.

2008 Notable Documents Award, National Conference of State Legislatures, Legislative Research Librarians, in recognition of excellence for the report Virtual Schools Operation that explores "topics of contemporary interest to legislators and staff by presenting substantive material in an outstanding format."

Rakesh Mohan was reappointed by the US Comptroller General to the Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards for a four-year term (2007-10). Government auditing standards provide the framework for helping to ensure that auditors conduct their work with competency, integrity, objectivity, and independence.
